Verification of Carbon Sequestration and Prevented Emissions
The REDD+ process is an internationally agreed framework to prevent deforestation. Celestial Green Ventures, using this mechanism has created a 1.3m hectare conservation region in a pristine Amazon Rainforest. A growing forest absorbs harmful carbon dioxide in the atmosphere while deforestation itself is a huge contributor to greenhouse gases. These reports describe the process through which the REDD+ conservation project is established and verified to agreed standards using monitoring and through the use of space-based assets.
INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION OF PRODES FOREST CHANGE DATA
PRODES satellite imagery provided by the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE) is seen by the Brazilian government and scientists worldwide as a reliable source of data. In this report, Celestial Green Ventures aims to verify the accuracy of PRODES by comparing its data to the satellite imagery provided by RapidEye (now known as Blackbridge), which has a higher resolution. The findings within this report document positive implications using PRODES data for REDD projects undertaking deforestation monitoring activities.
PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION REPORT MAY 2013 – JULY 2013
This second Project Implementation Report was released in August 2014 as a continuation of our initial Project Implementation Report, which covered the period from June 2011 to May 2013. This report also covers satellite monitoring and the implementation of events and activities throughout the project area, from the 21st of May 2013 to the 31st of July 2013. By releasing a Project Implementation Report for this period alone, we were able to bring both the reporting and the quantification time periods into alignment. As in the previous Project Implementation Report, this report details the activities relating to the carbon, social and biodiversity benefits of the Trocano Araretama Project.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION REPORT JUNE 2011 – MAY 2013
This Project Implementation Report was released in the early stages of the Trocano Araretama Project, and outlines the progress the project had made during the initial reporting period. It details the first 12 months of the satellite monitoring used to detect deforestation, in conjunction with other methods of deforestation monitoring. This report also covers the implementation of all activities and events throughout the initial 23 months of the project, beginning the 10th of June 2011. Some information regarding events prior to this date are also described, such as the establishment of the project’s scale and activities of the project, as well as the work carried out by Celestial Green Ventures, Institute Amazonia Livre, IDAM, and the Municipality of Borba.
