North Dublin Befriending Service

WHO THEY ARE

The Befrienders Dublin was one of the selected projects for the 2014 Social Funding Programme run by Celestial Green Ventures. It is a socialisation-based charity that supports people who experience isolation as a result of mental health difficulties. Social isolation exacerbates problems already felt by those with mental health difficulties, and can also lead to additional issues. Befriending gives people support not only by giving them a friend to talk to, but also by helping them build up the courage to go out, get involved, and re-establish their interests & social lives.

WHAT THEY DO

Since being awarded their funding, Befrienders Dublin have put on a number of social events for its members, such as a Hawaiian themed barbecue, a visit to the maritime festival in Wexford, a tour of wild Wicklow by foot & by bus, a Donegal cruise, a Dublin cruise, a trip on the Viking Splash Tours, and a trip to Dublin Zoo.
